Description
Sox10 (SRY-box transcription factor 10) is a member of the SOX family of transcription factors, which are involved in the regulation of embryonic development and cell fate determination. Sox10 is essential for the development and maintenance of neural crest-derived lineages, particularly in the peripheral nervous system, melanocytes, and glial cells including oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells. It plays a critical role in regulating genes involved in myelination and cell differentiation. In both research and diagnostic settings, Sox10 is widely used as a marker for neural crest cells, melanocytic tumors (including melanoma), and glial cell populations. The Sox10 antibody is commonly used in immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, and Western blotting to study neural crest development, myelination disorders, and tumors of glial or melanocytic origin.
