Description
Sox2 (SRY-box transcription factor 2) is a critical transcription factor involved in the regulation of embryonic development and the maintenance of pluripotency in stem cells. As a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors, Sox2 plays a pivotal role in maintaining self-renewal in undifferentiated embryonic stem cells by partnering with other core pluripotency factors such as Oct4 and Nanog. Sox2 expression is tightly regulated during early embryogenesis and is also observed in neural progenitor cells, where it contributes to neurogenesis and neural stem cell maintenance. Due to its essential roles in development, stem cell biology, and reprogramming, Sox2 is widely used as a biomarker for pluripotent stem cells and neural progenitors. The Sox2 antibody is a valuable tool for applications including immunocytochemistry, Western blotting, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry to detect and characterize stem and progenitor cell populations.
