Description
Tau is a microtubule-associated protein that stabilizes microtubules in neurons and plays a critical role in maintaining neuronal structure and axonal transport. Alternative splicing of the MAPT gene produces isoforms with three (3R) or four (4R) microtubule-binding repeats, with 4R Tau being predominant in adult human brains. Abnormal accumulation and hyperphosphorylation of 4R Tau are hallmarks of several neurodegenerative diseases, including progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and other tauopathies. The 4R Tau antibody specifically detects Tau isoforms containing four microtubule-binding repeats, making it a valuable tool for studies of Tau biology, neurodegeneration, and disease modeling. This antibody is validated for applications such as immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot.
