Description
USE: Add one DISC into one well of a 6-well plate, change DISC once a week and feed with your regular medium 2-3 times a week.

Qkine FGF2 DISCs are biocompatible hydrogels that release defined levels of Qkine recombinant human FGF2 154 aa (Qk027, Highly pure and bioactive 17 kDa FGF-2 / bFGF protein, animal origin-free (AOF) and carrier protein-free (CF)) stably into culture medium over the course of one week. Native FGF2 (154 aa) has a short half life (4 hours) and rapidly decays in cell culture media. Adding soluble FGF2 through daily, conventional commercial media feeds creates fluctuations in growth factor levels that affect signaling pathways and creates a stressful cellular environment. With FGF2 DISCs, FGF2 levels are stable over one week, allowing the following:
- Reduced feeding schedule to 2-3 times a week and improved pluripotency
- Dampened heterogeneity between cell lines
- Improved directed differentiation efficiency into endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm lineages
- Compatibility with different media
DISC device technology allows you to use your favorite media and feed less often. One DISC can be added per passage and can remain in the culture well/vessel for several media feeds (i.e., a pack of 48 DISCs will last 2 months when culturing in a 6 well plate). When added into media, DISCs are designed to release at a constant 10 ng/mL. As DISCs™ rehydrate, they will swell and become transparent. Embedded StemBeads® will be visible under a microscope. An image of a DISC™ under a microscope is included above for reference. This technology gives scientists enhanced control over growth factor levels in their cultures to provide robust, high-quality cells.
StemCultures offers two product sizes to accommodate standard culture plate sizes. Standard size Qkine DISCs (Qk-DSC500-48, Qk-DSC500S) are approximately 2-3 mm in diameter when dry, 5-6 mm diameter when rehydrated. Mini size Qkine DISCs (Qk-DSC505-48) are approximately 1-2 mm in diameter when dry, 2-3 mm in diameter when rehydrated. To find which DISC is ideal for your purpose, see the table below.
|
