stem cell person of the year

StemCultures’ Christopher Fasano, Ph.D. was nominated this year for the Stem Cell Person of the Year Award, an award given out by Paul Knoepfler, Ph.D. of the Knoepfler Lab Stem Cell Blog.  The award has received a lot of notoriety in the past few years since its inception and some big names in the Stem Cell world have been nominated.

Fasano made it through to the top 12 finalists, actually being voted #1 in the round of voting, however the award was ultimately given to Masayo Takahashi (高橋 政代), MD, PhD which was announced today.

Congratulations to Dr. Takahashi (高橋 政代) and all of the Stem Cell Person of the Year nominees.  They have all accomplished great things in this growing industry of regenerative medicine.

About the Knoepfler Lab

The Knoepfler Lab is interested in epigenetics in stem cells and cancer. We use cutting edge molecular, cellular and developmental biology methods as well as genomic and gene editing technologies to answer key open questions in these areas of research. We are particularly interested now in the roles of three factors normally in stem cells and during tumorigenesis: histone variant H3.3, the MYC family, and DPPA4. How do these factors link the epigenome to cellular behaviors and tissue growth?

Our big picture goal is to impact human health through novel discoveries that catalyze new treatments for cancer and advances in translational stem cell biology.
