This gene belongs to the forkhead family of transcription factors that is characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. This protein has been widely used as a marker of the developing and adult telencephalon to elucidate regional brain identity. Functional studies have shown it to be important for neural stem cell maintenance in forebrain progenitor cells. FOXG1 also goes by the alias BF1. It maps (human) to 14q13 on chromosome 14. The Entrez Gene Number is NM_005249.3
FOXG1 (NC-FAB) is an affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against a peptide mapping at the C-terminus of Foxg1 of mouse origin. Each vial contains 50ul of affinity purified FOXG1 polyclonal antibody. This antibody has been diluted 1:1 in glycerol and contains <0.1% sodium azide. It is recommended to aliquot out into working volumes. These working volumes can be kept at 4°C for up to 6 months. The other remaining aliquots can be stored at -20. This material is non-hazardous. No MSDS required.
This product has been tested with great specificity in ELISA, Western Blots, Immunohistomchemistry on frozen sections and immunocytochemistry on fixed cells (both mouse and human). On cells 1:500 dilution and sections 1:200 is recommended. In our tests unmaksing with 1mM EDTA for 10 minutes at 60°C was used.
